MERCEDES DURON Obituary
Jan. 12, 1927 – May 6, 2025
Mercedes was born in Boludo, Sonora, Mexico, and was married to Alfredo Duron on April 27, 1945, in Puerto Penasco. She was a homemaker for many years. For 15 years, she worked as a City of Calexico crossing guard for Dool School.
Mercedes was preceded in death by her husband, Alfredo; grandchildren, Melanie Ann, Justin, and Don McHenry; as well as her great-grandson, Tito.
She is survived by her son, Rogelio (Melanie), Alfredo Jr. (Rosario), and Jaime (Cecilia); daughters, Yolanda, Molly (Nabor Gomez), and Mercedes (Poli Flores Jr.); 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Service will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at 9 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Calexico and will be officiated by father Chris Merris. Burial will immediately follow at Mt. View Cemetery in Calexico.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Mercy and Jimmy,
My sincere condolences to you both, your brothers, sisters and loving family in the loss of your beloved mother.
Mrs. Duron will be remembered by all of us who crossed under her watchful care to get to Dool School, De Anza Junior High and Calexico High School - always reminding her charges to remember to look both ways when crossing ... I know many of us still do the same today with our grandchildren.
May your dear angel mother rest in peace and may you all find comfort in every precious memory made with her. God Bless you.
