It is with a heavy heart that we announce the loss of our beloved father and husband, Mervyn L. Napier. Mervyn is well remembered as a generous and kind man, always willing to lend a helping hand.

Mervyn Napier was born in the Imperial Valley on May 11, 1939, in the town of Seeley, California. He was the second child born to Eugene and Alene Napier and the first-born boy of 12 children. Mervyn was preceded in death by his siblings, Norma Sue, Martin Leland, and Donald Eugene; granddaughter, Devon; and great-grandchildren, Hunter Daniel and Jillian. Mervyn is survived by his siblings, Gloria, Glenda, Darlene, Charlene, Jo Carol, Mickey, Mark, and Kevin, along with his wife of 65 years, Maysel Elizabeth; and their three children, Brian, Kenneth, and Michelle, along with his grandchildren, Kristina, Heather, Ashley, Nicole, Megan, and Melanie; and great grandchildren, Ashton, Delaynie, Mason, Rylee, Brooklyn, Mackenzie, Wyatt, Noah, Emma, Addison, and Alexandra.

As a young man, Mervyn worked as a grocery clerk and in agriculture with his grandfather, Red Smith, and father, Eugene. After college, he moved into the construction industry building roads including sections of the Federal Interstate Road system in California and Arizona. Eventually he came to work locally for William H. Raley Construction. Working all over the valley, he built roads and parking lots. Additionally, Mervyn has worked for COVAL Construction, Tarmac Construction, and Granite Construction, eventually retiring from his construction career while at Val-Rock.

Mervyn was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Christ the King Counsel, a past Grand Knight, and a Forth Degree Knight.

We invite his friends and acquaintances to join his family at the funeral mass to be held at Saint Mary's Catholic Church on March 10, 2023, at 11AM.
