MYRON LOUIS CORFMAN

1940 - 2016

Myron Louis Corfman, 75, of El Centro, CA passed away on February 12, 2016. Myron was born December 18, 1940 in El Centro, Ca. to Harvey and Drexel (Layton) Corfman. He married Lyla on December 18, 1982. Myron graduated in 1958 from Central Union High School. Soon after, he joined the Army and was stationed at Fort Knox Kentucky and Fort Lewis Washington. He was a radio operator and a carbine sharpshooter. Myron began his career at the Imperial Irrigation District in 1961 and retired as Drain Maintenance Superintendent in 2004 after 43 years. He enjoyed farming, gardening at his cabin in Live Oak Springs and visiting the casino. Myron was a member of the Los Vigilantes, the Sunrise Optimist Club, the Imperial Federal Credit Union, including Board President in his early years. He was also a member and trustee of First Christian Church. Myron was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Drexel Corfman; brother, Phillip Dale Corfman; sister, Doris Dungan; and grandson, Brandon Corfman. He is survived by his wife of 33 years Lyla Corfman; brothers, John Corfman and Orval (Barbara) Corfman; sister, Delma (Sonny) Cradic; children, Rhonda (Cory) Whitfield, Barry (Lety) Corfman, and Desiree (Sam) Howard; 5 grandchildren, Sean Fisher, Blake and Brittany Corfman, Evan and Paris Howard and 1 great- grandchild, Lily Fisher. He is also survived by many extended family members and friends. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 26, 2016 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Christ Community Church at 590 W. Orange in El Centro. Funeral services will be on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at 9 a.m. also at Christ Community Church. Myron will be laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery in El Centro. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, Imperial Valley Food Bank or Imperial Valley Pioneer Museum.
