Ophelia C. Gomez, 50, of Chula Vista, CA., passed away on Saturday, May 27th at 3:18 a.m.
Ophelia was raised in Calexico and was a graduate of Class of 1972, Calexico High School, graduate of Occidental College in Los Angeles, graduate of UC Santa Barbara and obtained her Master's Degree from SDSU. She was employed by the Sweetwater Unified School Distrist as a School Psychologist for 12 years. She was active as past President of the School Psychology Association and was an active member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Chula Vista. She was an avid artist, sculptor and writer.
Services will be from 7 to 9 at Humphrey Mortuary, 753 Broadway, Chula Vista Wednesday, May 31, Rosary will be at 7 p.m.
Mass will be held Thusday, June 1, at Corpus Christi Catholic Parish at 10 am 450 Corral Canyon Road, Bonita. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in San Diego
Ophelia was preceded in death by her father, Joe G. Gomez of Los Angeles and Mary C. Gomez of Calipatria.
Ophelia is survived by her sister, Christy Gomez of El Centro; brothers, Joe Gomez of El Centro and Benjamin Gomez of Calexico; niece, Jacqueline Gomez of Irvine, Sergio Alonzo of Phillips Ranch, Benjamin Gomez Jr. stationed in Hawaii, Joe Gomez Jr., of El Centro, Ryan Christopher of El Centro. Several aunts and uncles.
