It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Pat Sharp. Stage 4 ovarian cancer combined with some severe strokes just wore her out, and she passed away on June 11, 2023. She was 74, too young of course, but she had lived an exciting life. She had traveled through Europe, lived in a Kibbutz in Israel, trained dogs in Nevada, lived in Ohio for about 10 years, and then moved to Arizona. From there, she spent another 10 years or so in the Bahamas, teaching art. She was an accomplished artist, and her students won national awards in competitions. She was an inspirational teacher of art and history, influencing children of all ages to share her love of art. Her last move was to the San Diego area, close to family.

She earned her undergraduate degree in art history from UCSB, and her master's degree in art while in Ohio. Her life was marked by hard work, love, and devotion to her son and family. She treasured her role as a sister, mother, aunt, and grandmother, cherishing every moment she spent with them. She loved cooking and baking and mastered many of her grandmother's recipes from the early 1900s. Her sense of trust, awe, curiosity, and delight in the natural world were some of her many gifts.

She was born in San Diego and raised in El Centro. Her father, Mike Hubbard, was a produce grower, and her mother, Ruth Hubbard, was a homemaker. Both are deceased. She had an older brother, Dick Hubbard, also deceased, and sister who survives her. She is survived by her son, Garrett Pearson Sharp, and his wife, Lara, and their daughter, Arwyn; her sister and husband, Linda and Joe Evangelist; and her sister-in-law, Gail Hubbard. She also leaves four nieces and one nephew, as well as a passel of great-nieces and nephews. Pat loved all her nieces and nephews, spending as much time as she could with them, but when her granddaughter Arwyn arrived, she was all that mattered for the last year of Pat's life.

A memorial service will be held on July 10, 2023, at 10 am at the Mission de Alcala, 10818 San Diego Mission Road, San Diego. A gathering will take place afterwards.
