PATRICIA RIES Obituary
Patricia "Pat" Ries, 79, of Palm Desert, passed away of natural causes, on Januray 25, 2021. Patricia Frances Martin was born June 16, 1941 in New Ulm, MN to Phillip and Cecilia (Pies) Martin. On August 26, 1961, Pat was united in marriage to Harold Ries. The two were blessed with four children whom they raised in El Centro, CA. Pat enjoyed her career in retail with the JC Penney Company and retired in 1995. After retirement, Pat was able to enjoy spending more time with family and friends. She enjoyed baking, cooking and crafts. She was preceded in death by her parents. Pat is survived by her husband Harold Ries of Palm Desert, CA; children, Brett (Tina) Ries of Bakersfield, CA, Dawn (Joe) McKinnie of El Centro, CA, Bartt (Laura) Ries of Holtville, CA, and Braddy (Roxanne) Ries of La Quinta, CA; grandchildren, Randy, Jared, Kalli, Brandon, Tristan, Madison, Paige and Skylar; great-grandchildren, Keanu, Evalette, Isla and Violette; sister, Catherine and many others. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, February 12, 2021 at 10 a.m. with Father Tyler officiating at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 43775 Deep Canyon Road, Palm Desert, CA 92260. Many great memories will stay with those that knew and loved Pat. Blessed be those memories. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorial contributions be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 42230 Deep Canyon Road, Palm Desert, CA 92260.

Pat was a second mom to me during my formative years. I have many fond memories of hanging out at the Ries home. She and Harry raised a good family, and I'm proud to say I am a friend. Pat and Harry had an open-door for all of their kids' friends. When I reminisce on my high-school years, my thoughts always travel to the good times I had with the Ries family. Pat and Harry allowed those relationships to flourish and I'm eternally grateful for those memories. Rest in peace Pat, you deserve it.

It was a great privilege to have known Pat since 2005. She was one of the high-lights of the neighborhood. I will miss her very much.
