PIEDAD VALENZUELA Obituary

PIEDAD GUTIERREZ VALENZUELA

July 6, 1957 – Sept. 26, 2025

Our beloved mother, Piedad G. Valenzuela, 68, of Brawley, passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her husband and children, on September 26, 2025. Piedad was born to Daniel and Marina Gutierrez on July 06, 1957. Piedad worked at Imperial County Behavioral Health as a Office Technician. She officially retired from the county in March of 2025, after 25 years of services.

Piedad was the embodiment of selflessness always putting others before herself and giving endlessly without ever asking for anything in return. She always demonstrated remarkable strength, courage, resilience, and hardworking. Our mother was our constant source of strength. She blessed us with her wisdom, helped us with our challenges, celebrated in our joys and victories, listened, guided us and was always transparent with us. She loved being with her grandchildren and caring for each of them. As a sister, she was always willing to help all her siblings in which ever way she could. As a daughter she was selfless and adored and loved her parents.

Piedad was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel & Marina Gutierrez; sister, Frances Molina, Arturo Gutierrez, and Antonio Gutierrez. She is survived by her husband, Guadalupe Valenzuela; children, Jessica M. Aviles, Mercy D. Valenzuela, Lupe Valenzuela Jr., and Daniel G. Valenzuela; sons-in-law, Augustine A. Aviles and Robert V. Valenzuela; daughter-in-law, Lorena Valenzuela; grandchildren, Austin A. Aviles, Anissa C. Aviles, Ariana J. Aviles, Natalia D. Valenzuela, Nathan R. Valenzuela, Lyann N. Valenzuela, Larissa N. Valenzuela, Avianna Valenzuela, and Danielle J. Valenzuela; sisters, Maria Gutierrez, Amelia Gutierrez, Marina Gutierrez, Lupita Hernandez, and Jessica Rubio; and numerous nieces and nephews.

We invite all who knew her to celebrate her life. Services for our mother will be held on October 10, 2025, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Frye Chapel Mortuary, in Brawley. Mass will commence on October 10, 2025, at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church. Lunch to follow at Liz's Event Center at 520 E. Street, Brawley at 12 p.m.

My most sincere condolences to the Valenzuela and Gutierrez families.

Mercy was my Parent Coordinatot when working with Campesinos Unidos Migrant Head Start.
We travel together for conferences and many Parent
Meetings at Coachella and Imperial County.
She was an excellent advocate for children and Parent rights.
Mercy was very respectful , empathetic with all the parents, staff, and board members .
May her memory be a blessing to all she touched with her lovely demeanor.
RIP my friend
