RAMIRO R. ZARATE

Beloved husband and brother, Ramiro R. Zarate passed away peacefully on the morning of September 10, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones. Ramiro was born on October 7, 1947, and passed away at the age of 77. He was born and raised in Imperial, CA. He graduated in 1967 from Imperial High School and was well known for playing football. Ramiro went on to participate in weightlifting and received recognition for winning the championship in his category. He was a hard worker as well as being a kind and generous soul, always willing to give whatever he could, whether it be his time, a place to stay, money, his prayers, or a meal to help those in need. Ramiro is survived by his wife, Kathy Zarate, his son, Daniel, and grandson.

He is survived by his brothers, Ray Zarate (Dinah) and Arnaldo Zarate, sisters, Christina Zaragoza, (Florentino), Ernestina Anchondo (Mike), and Amelia Valenzuela, (Ruben), and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Antonia Zarate, and brother, Joe Zarate.

His love and memories will live on in our hearts forever, especially his love and kindness for his animals and all his pets throughout the years.

Mass will be held in Holtville at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 560 Maple Ave on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at 9 a.m. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in El Centro.
