ROSA O. MATUS
Sept. 4, 1922 - May 7, 2015
Rosa Matus, 92, of Heber passed away on Thursday, May 7, 2015 of natural causes at her home in Heber.
She was born September 4, 1922 in Fresno, CA and was married to Delfino C. Matus in Imperial County. Nana was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and tia. The head of the family. Strong opinions and tell it how she saw it was her style. Never one to back down from her beliefs. If you didn't like it, too bad. She'd let you know. She loved her garden and all the plants in it. You'd regularly find her outside watering "porque estan seca las matas". She always made sure you were fed. She loved being in the kitchen making the traditional foods, but always trying out new recipes. A caring woman who only wanted the best for all her children, their children, and their children's children. She was our rock and how can we forget her nails. Her pride and joy!
She was preceded in death by her husband, Delfino C. Matus; sons Pete Matus and Delfino O. Matus.
She is survived by her son, Bill Matus of Calexico; daughter, Suzanne Matus of Heber; grandchildren, Rosie (Ramon), Billie (Isaac), Justin, Pino, Anjelica (Leo), Polito, Pat and family, Efren (Geneva), Nancy, Sara (Jerry), Melanie, Peter and family. Willie, Karla (Gary) and family; daughter-in-laws, Tanya Matus and Peggy Matus; brother, Pedro Ortega (Helen) of Fresno. great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, our great neighbors, anyone that was ever touched by our special woman.
Thank you Patsy (mom), for the help, love and patience at the end with my Nana.
Rosary will be held on Friday, May 15, 2015 at Sacred Heart Church in Heber at 10:30 a.m. Service will be held at 11 a.m. and Burial will immediatley follow at Mt. View Cemetery in Calexico, CA.

I didn't know Mrs Matus personally,but I knew both her husband, her son, and Tanya. She must have been a wonderful person as were her family members. Find joy that she's moved on to the next level of existence.
