SALVADOR GONZALEZ ZAMORA

1940 - 2019

Salvador Gonzalez Zamora, 78, of El Centro passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2019 of Alheimer's. Mr. Salvador Gonzalez Zamora was born August 2, 1940, in Comala, Colima, Mexico to Nicolasa Gonzalez Zamora. In 1945, they moved to Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico where he worked many jobs at a very young age to include the agriculture fields. At the age of 18, he served his native country of Mexico for one year as a conscript with the Mexican military. In 1962, he immigrated to the United States and became a permanent resident where he worked as an agricultural worker before enlisting in the United States Army in 1963. He was stationed in Ft. Richardson, Anchorage, Alaska as a General Supplies Specialist from 1963 to 1965 during the Vietnam War. After receiving an Honorable Discharge, he returned to Mexicali and reconnected with his love at first sight Romelia Siqueiros, who he later married on October 5, 1968. They went on to settle in El Centro in 1976 and he worked as a Boiler Room Operator for several geothermal companies throughout the Imperial Valley. Salvador and Romelia Zamora had three children, Patricia, Salvador, and Elvira all who are current residents of El Centro. He is survived by his wife, Romelia Zamora; children, Patricia, Salvador, and Elvira; grandchildren, Karen, Kristina, Sergio Felipe, Salvador, David, Diego and Niko; daughter in law Lupita and son in law Sergio. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 22, 2019 at 6 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, Capilla Cristo Rey in El Centro with Rosary to be prayed at 7 p.m. Mass will be Officiated by Fr. Mark Edney on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at 9 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, Capilla Cristo Rey in El Centro. Burial with military honors will follow services at Mount View Cemetery in Calexico.
