I just recently heard the sad news about Uncle Steves’s passing from my Mom, Maggie Ballentine. While I didn’t know him very well because of the distances between us, I do have a few fond childhood memories and a more recent memory of him and Aunt Mona visiting in Ohio, and it was quite enjoyable to spend time with both of them. My Mom was very close to him, and has always shared great memories of their childhood growing-up. Rest In Peace Uncle Steve. Rob Ballentine

Uncle Steve was a very joyful man, he saw the good and the positive aspects of whatever or whoever. Adventurous, witty, loving man. My favorite Uncle. Val Taylor

Uncle Steve was one of the most loving people I've ever known. His hugs and gentleness touched the hearts of everyone who knew him. If any word could capture who he was, it would be KIND. He had a way of bridging differences, creating understanding, and opening hearts through the purity of his kindness. I miss him profoundly, but now the heavens celebrate. One of their own has returned home.

Thankful for all Steve did for the youth of community both through his position with the Joint Union High School District and the Rancho Cucamonga Kiwanis Club. He was an excellent mentor for our high school students and a dedicated Kiwanian who lived his life “dedicated to improving the world, one child, and one community at a time.” Rest In Peace, Steve. You will be missed.

Mr. Butters was my counselor when I was a student at Montclair High School, 1964-68. He was a good counselor, very helpful to me. He was such a nice man, he always made me feel welcome whenever I had an appointment with him. My condolences to the family.
