away Friday, September
11, 2015. Steven was born De-
cember 1, 1969 in El Cen-
tro, but lived his entire
life in Brawley. He at-
tended Brawley Union
High School and graduat-
ed with the Class of '88.
Steven was a kind, loving
and good hearted man
whose energy would
draw you to him. One
couldnt help but feel his
energy and feel safe,
warm and secure. Steven will always be
remembered for his com-
manding raspy voice, his
love for sports, and most
importantly, his love for
his children. Anyone who
knew Steven knew what
was important to him.
Steven was a player and
coach in one. He loved to
play his sports but also
coached while on and off
the field. He will be
greatly missed by all. Steven is survived by
his fiance, Mona Urias of
El Centro, CA; children,
Christopher Mendoza of
El Centro, CA, Cassandra
and Cortni Mendoza of
Brawley, CA; stepdaugh-
ter, Kassandra Orozco of
El Centro, CA; father,
John Mendoza of Braw-
ley, CA; mother, Carmen
Mendoza of Brawley, CA;
brothers John and Ruben
Mendoza of Brawley, CA,
and Andrew Mendoza of
Vacaville, CA; numerous
aunts, uncles, and cous-
ins; as well as his Compas
and friends who loved
him and were also great
part of his life.

I was both shocked and sad to see the news of Steve passing. I cannot stop thinking about how time flies after seeing the passing of a one of my childhood friends. I can still remember like it was yesterday our times out at the ball field having fun because baseball was life back then as was our friendship. Having grown up knowing Steve and his family was a pleasure and alot of fun times. Steve will be both TRULY missed but never forgotten.
