Every so often I will look up old friends. So very sad today to learn of Terry´s passing. He was truly a very special person and more important a wonderful family. We met in Pacific Beach. He and his brother Robert lived in a 2 bedroom apt. on Thomas street. My roommates and I lived in a three bedroom house next door. We hit it off immediately and often traveled home with them to Brawley and visited his parents Roscoe and Gladys, Kay and JK. Those were great days back in the early `70s. Over the years we would see each other, and knew Julie and the girls. He had a unique way of standing and once driving 94, I saw him on the side of the road while he was working HP. I stopped and said hey. He once fell out of a helicopter on Catalina Island while rescuing wild horses. This is is a late post but I feel I needed to say goodbye to a dear friend. Sad to learn about Kay. God bless to Julie, Robert, and JK (I gave her my Alvarez for Christmas many years ago). Maybe someday our paths will cross again.

I feel like I'm coming out of the woodwork over here. I'm sorry I'm many years too late! I randomly found this announcement for Terry after waking up one day and something told me to Google his name and wouldn't let me rest until I did. It was shocking to see his face again under an obit posting. I actually dropped my phone. Terry was a comical person and could light up the whole room with his smile. No one was a stranger to him because he had the gift of gab and gift of joke. I remember dancing in Vegas and people cleared the dance floor for us (actually for him - he could dance THAT well). He also had a way with horses and saved my stupid self from being bucked off. He loved his Myers and Diet Coke to relax which I used to tease him about the Diet Coke part. I had the privilege of knowing him for a little while but never forgot his infectious smile, how much people liked him, or what a great dancer he was. It's very clear he was a very special person to many. My condolences to all.

I feel privileged to have known Terry in his rookie years. We were classmates at the CHP academy CTC IV-79. Terry, Mike Mitchell and myself were fortunate to transfer together to El Cajon for our first assignment. I worked beat partners with Terry for almost four years until I transferred. Terry had a good disposition and a great sense of humor. He was a great beat partner.
I remember working one day shift with Terry, along SR-94. We practiced a 50's dance move with hand gestures and spins on the center divider connector road. I'm sure the public was confused, they probably thought we only knew how to issue tickets. He was a fun person to work with and almost always in a comical mood. Terry was always good for a joke or some kind of prank. Because of my transfer to Northern Ca., I did lose touch with him. My sincere condolences to Terry's family and friends. My prayers go out to his family. We will see you again on the other side old friend.

So sorry yo hear of Terry's passing. I just asked about him last month and they told he had retired and moved to Florida. I went to school with Terry & Kay and went to their house many times to visit the family. They were the nicest family and always made you feel welcome in their house,

Our deepest and most sincere condolences to the family. May they ALL rest in peace together.

A little taste of Terry's humor...dispatch was doing a roll call due to an unusual transition heard over the radio. Sgt. Maas asked for a statues check on everyone. When they got to Terry, "108-82,what's your status?"...Terry,"San Diego, 108-82, I'm single,I like long walks on the beach, movies, candle light dinners,"....it went on for at least thirty seconds! There was about a twenty second pause, I'm sure because the dispatchers couldn't stop laughing then they said, "108-82, 10-19 and see S-5." He said it was totally worth it to see Sgt. Maas totally nutted up and screwed into the roof! I will miss him!

As Jennifer Aquiningoc and Cristina Kirby stated, I, too worked with Terry in El Cajon. I was clerical, though. Terry would come in and joke around and shoot the "breeze" with clerical. We all loved him dearly. We lost touch after he retired, but I will always have fond memories of him. R.I.P. my friend.

Terry and I became good friends when we worked together in El Cajon. I'm so glad that we kept in touch after he retired. Terry fought a long and hard battle, but never lost his sense of humor. You will be missed my friend.

As a child, my older sister told me of her fun times of hanging out with Terry and Kay. There was always lots of laughter when Terry and Kay were together! My sister loved them both! And I'm sure she and Kay greeted Terry in the heavens with love and something to laugh about. They were a joyful bunch! Godspeed to Terry's family.

Dear Family,
I was so saddened to hear of Terry's death. I hope you can take some comfort in knowing the pleasure Terry brought to my family and myself over the years. We still reminisce of the past years of knowing the McAfee family as neighbors and friends. You can be proud of the legacy Terry left for all of you. May your grief be short and your sweetest memories be forever.

With loving regards.
