Auston Dimitry Obituary

Auston "Audi" Dimitry, Jackson, Michigan native and resident of Middletown, NJ, dies at 56.
Auston "Audi" Dimitry, who lit up every room he entered, died far too soon at age 56 on Oct. 3 from glioblastoma, leaving behind a bereaved family, a vast network of friends, and a world that will be staggeringly less fun without him.
"He was a fighter, loved life and his children, family and friends, and we know his positive and unfailing spirit will survive in all he touched, especially his three remarkable children," said his wife of 20 years, Eileen Dimitry.
Dimitry was born July 9, 1969, in Jackson, Michigan, the only child of Philip and Nancy Dimitry. After three years of courtship, Dimitry married Eileen Ranonis in 2005 and the couple raised their three children – Mia, 19, Patrick, 16, and Charlotte, 12 – in Hoboken before moving to Middletown in 2014.
Dimitry loved learning and working. He graduated from Jackson High School in 1987 and earned a bachelor's degree in economics in 1991 from the University of Michigan.
After graduation, Dimitry worked as a buyer for the May Company in Cleveland and then in New York before pausing to return to Michigan to care for his mother, who also died of glioblastoma. (Auston was Dimitry's mother's maiden name.).
Dimitry later worked as an executive recruiting analyst for Spencer Stuart in Chicago. After completing an MBA at UCLA, he worked for Harrah's Entertainment in Las Vegas and later moved back to New York to join G&D Trading as an options trader.
Dimitry later settled into a career in commercial real estate developing portfolio strategies for Cushman Wakefield in New York and as a managing director at Newmark. A gifted communicator, Dimitry spoke frequently at forums throughout the country, including throughout his illness.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Dimitry was the glue that held together a vast network of friends, many of them said.
"One of Audi's most endearing qualities was that he always showed up," said Joe Dubinski, a close friend since eighth grade. "Once you were a friend, you were a friend for life."
Dimitry was also a devoted son, traveling with his dad on many trips including to India, Australia and his Macedonian family's village. "He had a lot of adventure in him," Philip Dimitry said.
A passionate sports fan, Dimitry rooted hard for the Michigan Wolverines, Detroit Lions, Tigers, and UCLA Bruins. An avid basketball player himself, he fostered a love of sports in his children. He coached some of his children's sports teams and attended every game he could.
Dimitry will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who were touched by his good-natured soul. He is survived by his beloved father, Philip Dimitry; his loving wife, Eileen Dimitry; children, Mia, Patrick and Charlotte; aunts Judy Auston (Gigi Gagnon) and Elizabeth Anton (Eric Anton); aunt, Dorothy Dimitry; uncle Paul Dimitry (Colleen); cousins, Greg Dimitry, John Dimitry, Kasey Gagnon (Daniel) and Kristofer Anderson (Jennifer); mother-in-law, Maureen Mullane; and sister-in-law, Regina Tucker (Paul).
A mass will be held Saturday, October 11 at 10 a.m. at Saint James Roman Catholic Church in Red Bank, New Jersey. He will be buried at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Jackson, Michigan on Friday, Oct. 17 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Commonwealth Commerce Center, 209 E. Washington Ave. in Jackson, Michigan.

Phil, Family and Friends,

My deepest sympathies about Auston´s illness and passing. He was a wonderful soul who touched so many people´s lives. In a much earlier era of his life: we had the time of our lives. And I knew how much he loved his family and friends!
I will never forget him.
Rest easy, Auston.
Only love to you, Phil and Friends over this heartbreaking loss.
