Stevens, Glen W. "Shorty" 1/20/1933 - 12/1/2017 Michigan Center Glen W. "Shorty" Stevens, Age 84, took his final checkered flag December 1, 2017, surrounded by his wife of 59 years Cynthia and 4 daughters Michelle Abbs, Carol (Ulrick) Harbaugh, Gail Stevens (Dawn Shaughnessy), Jennifer (Jim) Trolz. He is survived by 6 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, brother Layton Bud (Lee) Stevens and numerous extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Henry and Thelma Stevens, 3 brothers, 1 sister. Glen served in the Army National Guard 1950-55, the Army 1955-57 as PFC in Yukon Command at Ladd AFB, Fairbanks, Alaska. Glen loved cars and enjoyed racing and working on them. In the 60's and 70's, he drove his #1 race car at Jackson Motor Speedway and other tracks in Michigan and Indiana. He loved to have fun and never failed to provide for his family. He had a great sense of humor and will be lovingly remembered and missed. Special thanks to his Hospice nurse Melissa for her wonderful care. No memorial is planned.
