Rickey Doering Sr.

Rickey Lee Doering Sr., age 70, passed away peacefully at Henry Ford Hospital in Jackson, MI, surrounded by his loving family. Born on December 14, 1954, to James and Betty Doering.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Marcia Lynn Doering; children, Rickey Lee Doering II and Mitchell Lynn Doering; grandchildren, Onna (Casey) Russell, Taryn (Dylan Evans) Doering, Daeten (Dylan) Thomas, Cailyn Doering, and Macie Doering; great-grandchildren, Riley Shepard, Oakley Grimes, Jireh Thomas, and Braylen Evans; sister, Marianne Doering; best friend, Terry Howard; and his beloved pets, Ranger and Cookie.
Rickey was preceded in death by his parents, James and Betty Doering; his in-laws, Robert Hill Sr. and Norma Hill; grandparents, Frank and Martha "Tootie" Doering; and his grandmother, Bernice Lysher.
A man of the outdoors, Rickey found joy in hunting, fishing, and spending time at the family cabin in Leota, Michigan; his true happy place. Whether riding his Harley Davidson across the state (even over the Mighty Mackinac Bridge), hosting bonfires where the whole family would gather, or taking annual fishing trips with his family to Crooked Lake, Portage Lake, Lake Erie, Lake Michigan, and ice fishing on lakes all around Michigan. Rickey lived for the moments that brought people together.
He passed on his love for the outdoors to his grandchildren, making sure each one completed a hunter safety course so they could spend time together deer hunting. He taught anyone who wanted to learn how to ride motorcycles, go-karts, golf carts, and served as their first teacher in many of life's adventures. Rickey was also a hammerman and forge worker, dedicating over 40 years to Jackson Drop Forge and Lefere Forge.
Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be a celebration of life held on Thursday, August 14, 2025 with visitation at 4:00 PM and service to follow at 5:00 PM at Lauer Funeral Home. Please come ready to share your favorite memories, photos, or moments spent with Rickey.
