Robert "Bob" Rice

Robert "Bob" D. Rice, 93, passed away on February 7, 2026, surrounded by his loving family, leaving behind a legacy of faith, family, service and compassion. He was born on August 7, 1932, to the late Daniel Rice and Marion Chaffin. Bob was preceded in passing by his parents, Daniel Rice and Marion Chaffin; step-father, John Chaffin; children, Robert "Bobby" and Shirley Rice; half-siblings, Leroy, Deborah, and Danetta. He is survived by his sweetheart, Loretta of 72 years; children, Susan (Rodney) Sloan, and Sandra (Cliff) McCormick; seven grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren; half-brother, Dan (Mary) Rice. Bob was a devoted husband, loving father, and a proud grandfather whose greatest joy in life was his family. Bob and his sweetheart, were faithful members of Redeemer Lutheran for over 60 years. Through the church, Bob served as a Stephen Minister, offering comfort, care and support to those in need. He had a big heart and would help anyone who needed it. Bob worked for many years at Aeroquip where he also served as a union rep. In addition, Bob was "The Director" and winemaker for many years for his family. Today, that tradition continues through his two grandsons, Ethan and Kyler. Photography was one of Bob's lifelong passions, taking pictures of gatherings and special occasions. Bob built his and Loretta's home and became a place where he and Loretta spent their whole life together, creating a lifetime of memories. Bob will be remembered for his strong faith, now in his eternal home with Jesus from his temporary home here on earth. To honor Bob's wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will take place Friday, February 20, 2026, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 3637 Spring Arbor Road, Jackson, MI 49201, beginning at 11:00am with a visitation from 10:00am until the time of the service.
