Valda Shelar Obituary
Her first husband, Arthur Ray Shelar, preceded her in death (09-02-1926 to 01-28-1998) from their marriage of fifty-two years (09-14-46 to 01-28-98).
Her second husband, Albert Edgar Lowe formerly of Fosteria, Michigan, preceded her in death (11-30-21 to 03-31-2008) from their four years of marriage (12-13-2003 to 03-31-2008).
She is also survived by the four children of her marriage to Arthur Ray Shelar who are as follows:
Dale (Margie) Shelar of Junction City, KS; Yvonne (Charles) Bruerd of Pulaski, TN; Verla Shelar (Zinger) of Albion, MI; and Duane Shelar of Jackson, MI. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Kyanna (Kelly) Kuntz, Lynsey Shelar (Tyler Ward), Barak (Tara) Bruerd, Joel Bruerd, and Christopher (Marcie) Zinger. She is survived by six great grandchildren: Clare & Ellie Kuntz; Araella, Judah & Selah Bruerd; and Zofia & Asher Zinger.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Roy and Mabel Campbell of Gladwin, Michigan; her first husband, Arthur Ray Shelar; her second husband, Albert Edgar Lowe; her siblings, Clair (Gertie) Campbell, Earl (Lillian) Campbell; Grover (Gertie) Campbell; Alvin (Doreen) Campbell of Epswich, England; and Donna Campbell
(Warren) Pike, Gerald (Laura Jean) Campbell of Naples, FL; and Nina Campbell Reppert (John) Frye of Spring Arbor, MI.
Valda Irene Campbell was born on 12-17-1926 in Gladwin County, MI. She attended the Bard School during grades 1-5, and the Beaverton Public Schools in Gladwin County in grades 6-7a. She attended Warner School in Spring Arbor, MI for grades 7-8. She graduated from Spring Arbor High School in 1945 and Spring Arbor Junior College in 1947.
Her husband, Arthur Shelar, was the minister at Vandercook Lake Christian Pilgrim Church (now Bible Methodist Church) from 1955 – 1967. During that time Valda Shelar served faithfully with him in ministry. She was the church camp coordinator for the Christian Pilgrim Campground for forty-two years. She loved traveling and new adventures. She treasured every moment with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Valda will be remembered for the grand times that she organized for her family. She especially enjoyed riding four wheelers with her grandchildren and friends.
Her boundless energy and enthusiasm for living characterized her life. Valda will be remembered for her faithfulness in serving God, her family and the church. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Visitation will be held on October 11, 2025 beginning at 10:00am until the time of service at Watson Funeral Chapel – 2590 Spring Arbor Road, Jackson. Service will be held at 11:00am with Reverend David Roller, Officiating. Interment to follow at Spring Arbor Cemetery.

I am sorry to hear of your mothers passing. She was such a sweet person. It is wonderful to know that our parents served a loving God who prepared a place for them and where we can be with them again in heaven. I am grateful for that knowledge.
