Christopher Byars Obituary

Mr. Christopher Wayne "Chris" Byars, age 61, of Jacksonville, Alabama, passed away Saturday, May 24, 2025. Chris was born on Saturday, June 15, 1963, in Jackson, Georgia to the late Elwood Wayne and Frances Jeanelle Byars. Chris served in the United States Air Force and later worked as a Disaster Preparedness Instructor. In his spare time, Chris collected Hot Wheels. He most enjoyed spending time with his family. Chris is survived by his wife of 43 years, Sherry Carson Byars; daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Brad Johnson; son and daughter-in-law, Nick and Chasity Byars; grandchildren, Caleb Pearson, Brylee Byars; sisters and brothers-in-law, Kim and Robert Torbett, Brooke and Harry Brown; several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and in-laws. A funeral service for Mr. Chris Byars will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at the Sherrell Memorial Chapel with Reverend Harry Brown officiating. Interment will follow at Jackson City Cemetery. Friends may visit the family on Friday, May 30, 2025, from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Sherrell-Westbury Funeral Home. Those who wish may sign the online guest registry at www.sherrell-westburyfuneralhome.com. Sherrell-Westbury Funeral Home, 212 E. College Street, Jackson, GA, is serving the Byars family.
