Waneta Velda Bristol

Waneta Velda (Taylor) Bristol, age 83, of Jackson, GA passed away on February 8, 2026 at Wellstar Spalding Medical Center in Griffin, GA. Waneta was born on February 1, 1943 in Hammond, NY and attended Morristown (NY) Central High School. She lived in Athens, GA for several years before moving to Jackson. She remained a resident of Jackson for 57 years.

For many years, Waneta worked at Buckner's Family Restaurant and Atlanta South 75 in Jackson near the interstate. She loved to read and throughout the years she had various dogs, cats, and birds that she enjoyed spending time with.

She is survived by her sister, Sharon; two sons, Douglas (Caterina) of Montgomery, AL and Michael of Jackson, GA; her daughter, Melissa of Chatsworth, GA; and her seven cherished grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd Howard and Valida Iona (Cutway) Taylor and sister, Wanda.
