Carl McGarity Obituary
Carl Richard McGarity, age 81 of Alamo, TN, passed away Saturday, March 7, 2015.
Richard was born on January 4, 1934 in McNairy Co., TN. Beloved husband to Linda Joyce McGarity (Lowery), he has gone on to his eternal reward.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas V. and Mary E. McGarity, along with 2 sisters.
He is survived by 2 brothers and 5 sisters. He leaves behind 2 children, Richard L. McGarity (Wendi) of Alamo, TN, and Linda C. Williams (Randy) of Bells, TN; 4 grandchildren, David N. Williams (Jennifer) of Bells, TN, J. Heath McGarity of Jackson, TN, Annie E. McGarity, of Jackson, TN, and Miranda L. Harbin (Will) of Gadsden, TN; 2 step-grandchildren, James L. Weller (Courtney) of Broken Arrow, OK, and Jessica N. Weller of Tulsa, OK. Last but not least, he leaves behind one beautiful great-granddaughter, Lana Joy Harbin.
Richard and Joyce were married on January 28, 1956. They called Alamo their home for nearly 60 years together. He honorably and bravely served in both The United States National Guard and The United States Marine Corp. during the Korean War and was a proud Veteran. He retired from Brown Shoe Company in Trenton, TN, in 1990 after 35 years and farmed from 1962-1990. He will be greatly missed by all.
Visitation and funeral services will be held at Ronk Funeral Home in Alamo, TN. Visitation will be Monday, March 9, 2015 from 5-8 p.m. and funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 10, 2015.
