Helen Stahl was a great friend and neighbor to my parents. She lived a few miles from their farm, "up the road," at Pine Top. My father was diagnosed with a metastasizing cancer, and I often drove from NM to TN to visit with my parents. Helen was their most frequent visitor, and she truly loved sitting out in Dad's work shop talking about her car collection. Every Christmas she'd send me several cards depicting some of her favorite art pieces. She was kind, and a remarkably gifted artist, but what I most admired about Helen was her unconditional and purely endless love of all animals. She had 27 dogs and 17 cats. She rescued every one of them from starvation, as they'd all been "thrown away." I lost touch with Helen about eight years ago, and was not aware she'd passed. Was searching for one of her art pieces online when I saw this obituary. She was an amazing person, and am sure she is missed by many, many people and all her rescued animals.

I have fond memories of Miss Stahl from the late 50,s...she made such an impression on me with her talent...I have seen the pictures she has painted of places in Memphis in the 50's and if ever possible, I wish I could purchase one...may her family have peace that she was a wonderful woman, artist and teacher....

I was in Miss Stahl's class for 4 years, before graduating in 1970. She was probably the most influential Teacher I had in high school. Art has been a huge part of my life and that came from her generous sharing of her love for Art and her talent as both an artist and a teacher. She was a fine person and an extraordinary teacher.
