It is hard to believe that three years have passed since losing my good friend Henry. I think of him often- every time I eat something with Coconut he comes to mind- Henry Loved all things Coconut! He was a good friend and possessed a quiet empathy that spoke to everyone around him.

Oh my god I didn´t know just the last Friday call to his office and the told that he isn´t there and I look for where is he and I found that terrible notice I m in shock pray for his family I´m so sorry he was an excellent doctor

I just found out that he passed away last year and I am in shock. I want tell you great things about him. I met him in Beaumont, TX at obgyn office. I was his first patient and he did amazing take care with my 2nd pregnancy and delivered my daughter in May 31,2018. He was amazing Obgyn. I am sad to hear he passed away. Pray for his family. I just can’t believe this.

As I sit here thinking about Dr.West he was one of my Favorites doctor's he really took out the time to care for me when I had a procedure done everytime he was always there he checked on me and really made sure my Family was comfortable he always prayied before each procedure he was just always a good person all the way around and I know you're in heaven and I Love you for everything you have done God please watch over his wife and Family. I don’t even know where to start! I met Dr. West back in 2018 when I first moved to Beaumont, Tx. I had been dealing with pcos 7 years before meeting Him.I remember walking into his office and telling him my story and how I was looking for assistance with the issues I was having and etc. I remember Dr. West sitting me down telling me how young I was & how I should attempt to at least have another child before throwing the towel in. I was pretty adamant that I did not want anymore kids! I explained my story over and over to Dr.West on why I wanted to throw the towel in. Needless to say, he finally talked me into going through the treatments to have another child. Just when I was starting to give up hope.... BOOM, I was expecting. Dr. West helped me bring my miracle baby into this world. Everybody has their purpose in life. I feel as though god put Dr. West in my life for a purpose. After 7 years of trying and no luck, Dr.west gave me hope again. I have been trying to find Dr. West since January of this year. I was willing to travel to Tennessee just for him to continue to be my Dr. When I called your office today, I was calling with hopes of being able to schedule my appointment, but instead I got the worst news ever! I’m heartbroken, my family is heartbroken. You gave women like me hope. To hear of your passing has crushed my family and I in so many ways. You will truly be missed. Praying for your family, & May you Rest In Peace.

In this year of shocks, seeing the news of Dr. West's death sent my stomach sinking. Each year 100 amazing young people start their journey through medical school in our classrooms at Meharry. There are a few truly exceptional students who leave an indelible mark on you. Henry West was one of those. I can still see him in his favorite seat in my embryo lectures. He was an excellent student, questioning and curious with a rapid grasp of the material and a heart that always put the information in the context of helping his future patients. I got to work with him and see his leadership skills in his extracurricular activities and how much his peers respected and enjoyed him. I can remember when Dr. Montgomery-Rice enthusiastically welcomed him into the Ob/Gyn residency program. He excelled there as he did as a medical student and he exemplified Meharry's values of providing quality, compassionate care. He will be missed by peers, patients, and those of us who were able to walk with him a short while. My thoughts and sympathy to his family.

It was an honor and privilege to call Henry Earl West my first cousin. He eventually felt more like a brother as we shared many inside jokes and stories. He mastered the art of resilience by not allowing any obstacle to prevent him from being successful. God bless my entire family in dealing with this loss. May his spirit change this world into a better place.

Earl was my biological cousin but we were always brothers. he came to live with my family our last two years of high school and we went from a family of 4 to 5 instantly. From all of our activities at Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church, Sports, the Mall, Parties, etc. , if you saw one of us the other was usually not far away. I can remember us watching The Cosby Show but I had no idea that he planned on becoming a doctor but he knew it all the time. He was always goal oriented and knew exactly what he wanted to do with his life. Before he passed, we had buried both of our mothers, and we were talking about how precious life is and the time we have here in this life. To put more of an importance on family time instead of always being consumed with work. Now that he is not here, i wish i could have told him that he touched many lives, mine as well, and the time he spent here was well worth it. Adios, for now my brother. i will still be speaking to you and Mommy when i go running everyday.

I met Dr. West when he was a new resident at Meharry and I worked in Ob/Gyn. I watched as he transitioned into an awesome physician. He always met me with a smile. I am thankful for the opportunity to have met him. My prayers and condolences are with his family during what we know is a very difficult time. What can i say about this man, from the moment i found out i was pregnant, through a miscarriage, my 2nd pregnancy, a looonngggg 9 months and 18 hrs of labor he stuck by my side. We fussed, we fought and we argued, mainly because i was hardheaded. He was willing to be at my beck and call anytime of day or night. He made sure not only I was healthy but that my daughter was as well. He made my delivery experience the best ever and my aftercare as well. Thank you Dr.West for everything you did for myself and my baby, you will be greatly missed!!!

I am super thankful to have met you! While Working as your nurse, you managed to teach me so much and we had an incredible bond. You made sure I was okay everyday during my pregnancy as I continued to work with you and after you always checked on Addi! You were an amazing man and I will never forget you! "Why you going to Northline and back" was one of his favorite sayings in high school. He said that when there was an easier way to solve a problem in Math class. As I was the Drum Major for the Sam Houston Awesome Tiger Band Henry was always a pleasure to deal with and a model band mate. Just an awesome person that we all knew was destined for great things. My heart goes out to his family. He was a very close friend I went to high school with. He was Valedictorian at Sam Houston High School. Im so proud of his achievement becoming OB/GYN. He grew up not having much and to see him fluorish into this wonderful human being I thank God I had the privilege of knowing him. It was an honor having him as a friend. Dr Henry West was the best Doctor I’ve had. He will definitely be missed. Such a kind and caring man gone way too soon but he’s with our Lord now. I had the perfect delivery of my baby with him and he was my dr this last year as well with my second son. It saddens me to know that Dr West has gained his Heavenly Wings,but I know that our plans are not God's plans. He was an awesome physician who always was full life and had such a caring loving spirit for not only the staff,but all of his patients . I was always happy to see his smiling face coming down the hall into the nurses station. Henry Earl as some of us would call him left his mark on the Center for New Life night shift,especially me..
I'm going to truly miss him. Dr West is home with the Lord
