When I was born, you told mama that you finally had someone to take care of you & I've been a daddy's girl ever since. I moved home from Nashville to help mama care for you over your last 4 years on Earth. Even after your passing, I made sure that there was no lint on your suit coat while you were in your casket. You were right all along...I was here to take care of you. I miss you every day & hope to see you again one day. I love you daddy & I know that you'll always be with me! Jessica Pooh

Our prayers are with the family. Dr. Cannon took good care of our grandfather Freddie Jeffries. He helped him to live 99.5 years in good health. We would laugh in his office about things our grandfather would say during the visit. Shouting out to our classmates Patricia and Almeda. We pray for peace that passes all understanding in Christ Jesus. The Jeffries Family

We met Dr. Jesse J Cannon after moving from Washington, D.C. and during his time looking after our late pastor. Our family also remember Dr. Cannon for his insightful remarks at our Cousin Luvenia Boyd's funeral. He admonished the congregation to be more concerned about their health; especially their "mental health" Dr. Cannon advised us to take vitamins and mineral and eat a healthy diet as well. A very wise man--
You will be missed by many

I am sending my Condolences to Maurine, Brenda my classmate of 1972, and the entire family. I have fun memories of Jesse when he and my brother Larry first went to UTM in 1969. They were roommates and invited me up there one weekend during my junior year in High School. God don't make any mistakes and Jesse was definite a Saint and child of God. May the Lord continue to Bless his wonderful family. Love always, Abdul&Velinda Whitmore-Rashad. AKA. Curtis Watkins

Just a moment to offer my sincere condolences. God says that we should rejoice at death and weep at birth, but it is so hard to not fall in love with those that we have shared and they have shared their life, friendship, and love with us and not weep at their going. Dr. Cannon took care of my parents as he did so many others. I thank God for allowing us to have him in our presence for as long as he was, everyone that met him are the richer for it.

The most sincere and respected man,
The most humble and dedicated hand.
The most compassionate and special one,
Because he lived for Jesus the son.
He loved his wife and family so dear,
And everyone far and near.
We know he was called for a task,
That eternal destination he worked for in the past.
God continue to Bless and strengthen the family.

My prayers and condolences go out to the Cannon family. Jesse and the Cannon family are long-time friends and schoolmates from Douglass School in Stanton through Haywood High School. Jesse was smart, conscientious, funny and just an all-round good guy. He loved the Lord, and we know he now rests peacefully with Him. He will be greatly missed.

My most sincerest and heartfelt condolences go out to the immediate and extended family of Dr Jesse J. Cannon, Jr. Longevity isn't guaranteed to any of us but the quality of life is most important. Dr. Cannon excelled in many aspects of life and it is apparent that he went above and beyond as an accomplished physician, community leader, activist, proud family man and a pillar of the community. Do not question...but accept because God doesn't make mistakes. Dr. Cannon was indeed a GENTLEMAN along with being humble and compassionate. Now that Dr. Jesse Cannon, Jr. has crossed the bar (something all of us must do at life's end), we can loose him and let him go. He is now at an Eternal destination where we have yet to arrive. There is a brighter side somewhere and surely Dr. Jesse J. Cannon, Jr. can walk around HEAVEN all day. "Excellence is to do a common thing in an uncommon way" (Booker T. Washington). I know there are many, many similar stories, but Dr. Cannon saved my mom's life years ago. She is gone now, but because he cared and took the time to ask a simple question, and listen, he discovered a heart problem. She had surgery and lived many more quality years. I will forever be grateful. May you, his family, be comforted and may peace be with you.

My heart is so heavy, but I know that my Big Brother was tired. God has given him eternal rest from all pains and medicines. Jesse has always been my hero, my rock, my spiritual counselor, and my friend. I'm missing him already, but I will understand it better by and by. I will always remember his favorite quote/song: "It is Well With My Soul". Sleep on now my Big Brother, and take your rest.
