Martha Elizabeth Ragan Walker

Jackson, TN - Funeral services for Mrs. Martha Elizabeth Ragan Walker, age 94, will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, August 18, 2014 in the chapel of Lawrence-Sorensen Funeral Home, with Brother Jerald Smith officiating. Private burial for family only will follow.

Mrs. Walker died August 16, 2014.

She was born in Madison County, TN, daughter of the late Almus and Mary Anna Smith Irvin, and was educated in the local schools. Mrs. Walker was a former owner/operator of Ragan's Grocery for many years. She was the oldest member of Maple Springs Cumberland Presbyterian Church at Beech Bluff, TN.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Bennie Ragan and her second husband, Newell Walker; her sisters, Mary Ellen Butler, Georgia Irvin and Louise Irvin; her brothers, Will T. Irvin, Alvy Irvin and Jesse D. Irvin.

She leaves two daughters, Anna Griffith and husband James of Jackson, TN, and Martha Savouray and husband Denis of Memphis, TN; two grandchildren, Elizabeth Baddour (Jim) and Cindy Hearn (Rick); three great-grandchildren, Robby Tribble, Mary Elizabeth Hearn and Sarah Hearn.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be directed to Maple Springs Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 2005 Beech Bluff Road, Beech Bluff, TN 38313.

Visitation with the family will be from 12 Noon until service time of 1 p.m. Monday, at Lawrence-Sorensen Funeral Home, (731) 424-2424.
