Rev. Robert Gant

Rev. James Robert Gant "Preacher Man", age 89, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home in Perryville during the early morning hours of September 23, 2013. He was two months away from his 90th birthday, November 26.

During his 70 years of preaching God's work, he pastored the following churches: Hopewell Baptist, Calvery Baptist in Lexington, TN, 2nd Baptist in Lexington, TN, Sardis Ridge Baptist, Perryville First Baptist, Cub Creek Hall Baptist, Mt. Zion Baptist, Franks Chapel Baptist, Bible Hill Baptist, and Bunches Chapel Baptist Church.

Rev. Gant was preceded in death by his wife: Lorene Tillman Gant; sons: Bobby Wayne Gant, Ted Lee Gant and James Edward Gant "Eddie"; grandsons: Scott Anthony Baugus & Stephen James Gant.

Rev. Gant is survived by his children: Carolyn Gant Baugus (Larry), Tony Gant (Gloria); sisters: Jean Gant Tittle (Hershel); grandchildren: Jeff Gant (Kay), Teddy Gant (Christine), Laura Gant Gavito (Carey), Christopher Gant (Joanie), Clayton Gant; great-grandchildren: Toni Gant Rister, Sophia Elizabeth Gavito, Harper Raine Gant; great-greatg-randchildren: Ryne Gant, Maddox Gant; "Special Family": Kristie Burkett, Electra Burkett and Blaze Burkett.

Visitation will begin Monday, September 23, 2013 at 5 p.m. till time of services at Hopewell Baptist Church. Services will be held on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at 2 p.m., at Hopewell Baptist Church, with burial to follow at Perryville Cemetery.
