Robert Lillard Obituary
Robert Howard Lillard, Sr., age 84, passed away early Friday, December 9, 2011 in Knoxville. He was born September 7, 1927 in Madison County, just outside of Jackson, TN.
He was the retired founder and President of Wholesale Glass Distributor, Inc. in Memphis. Early in his career in Jackson, he was very active in the local and state Jaycee organization, served as Chairman of the Jackson-Madison County March of Dimes for several years, and was named "Young Man of the Year" by the Jackson Lions Club in 1957.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Peggy Corlew Lillard, who passed away in March of 2011.
He is survived by his six children; eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren, of whom he was most proud. These are daughter, Debbie Diddle and husband John of Knoxville; daughter, Cindy Howell of Indianapolis; daughter, Dr. Lisa Oglesby and husband Eric of Knoxville; daughter, Kathy Lillard of Nashville; daughter, Donna Lillard of Memphis; son, Dr. Robert Lillard, Jr. and wife Kathryn of Nashville. His loving grandchildren are Dr. Wes Diddle and his wife Dr. Sabrina Guse of Boston, Walker Diddle and wife Meghan of Knoxville, Abby Diddle Flowers and husband Graydon of Clarksdale, MS, Alex Howell of Indianapolis, Connor Oglesby of Knoxville, Rachel Oglesby Chiappetta and husband Chip of Nashville, Mark and Sarah Lillard of Nashville; great grandchildren are Murphy and Benton Diddle of Knoxville, Allie Harris and Gray Flowers of Clarksdale, MS and Lea Chiapetta of Nashville.
There will be a celebration of his life on Saturday, December 17, 2011 at 11:30 a.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery on Poplar Avenue in Memphis, TN.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to your local chapter of the Alzheimer's Association or to a charity of your choice.
