Sarah Langley Obituary

Sarah Ann Ford Langley 49 of Jackson died peacefully Saturday morning at the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital after a lengthy and difficult struggle with cervical cancer. Sarah was beautiful flamboyant outrageous unconventional outspoken and wildly original. A graduate of Old Hickory Academy Vanderbilt University and the New York Restaurant School. Sarah enjoyed cooking professionally for a number of years. She was also a gifted teacher who shared her love of the English language with students at The University School of Jackson and at Jackson State. Her true calling however was writing. She began her professional writing career in 1977 as a junior staffer at The Nashville Tennessean. Sarah had just completed her first book an autobiographical piece a few months before her death. She leaves her sweet beautiful daughter Sarah Elizabeth 'Sarah Beth' Langley the light of her life; her brother Jesse Hill Ford III and wife Debbie of Jackson; her brother Dr. Charles Davis Ford and wife Julie of Cedar Grove; her sister Elizabeth G. Ford and husband Julien Hohenberg of Cedar Grove; two nieces; eight nephews; one grand-nephew; her beloved Yorkies Maxie Lucy and Daralyn and numerous friends. Sarah was preceded in death by her mother Sarah Davis 'Sally' Ford and her father Jesse Hill Ford Jr. A celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday August 17 2004 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Jackson Country Club.
