Adrian N. McVay

Adrian N. McVay, 88, of Lafayette Indiana, passed away at 2:10 pm, Thursday, April 23, 2015 at his residence. Born July 22, 1926 in Burnettsville Indiana. He was the son of the late Samuel M. and Ethel Gladys (Pierce) McVay. He was raised in the Burnettsville Baptist church and was honorably discharged as a World War II veteran, serving in the United States Navy.

He was married to Patricia Brown and had three children from this marriage that are surviving, Linda Jamison (husband: Ronald) of Winamac IN, Neal T. McVay (wife: Janet) of Tangier IN and, Craig B. (wife: Susan) of Columbus OH.

He was also married to Iris Cochran Tincher who had been widowed with two children surviving, Judith K. Tincher Quaintance (husband: John) of Buck Creek IN, and Teddy A. Tincher (wife: Barbara) of Bosier LA. During their marriage they had a daughter, surviving, Brenda S. Strickler (husband: Tony) of Lafayette IN. Also surviving are his 11 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

In his retirement years he fell in love and married Carolyn Ann "Sookie" Donaldson and she sadly preceded him in death on April 30, 2007.

Adrian owned McVay Motors, first on Brown Street and then later located on Elmwood Avenue. He then enjoyed his retirement business, Classic Limo and Chauffer for more than twenty years. He was a member of the Bethany Presbyterian Church for 56 years, serving as a deacon and elder. He was also a member of the Eagles Lodge, American Legion Post #11 and Lafayette Kroozers Car Club. One of his greatest passions in life were his classic cars.

Preceding him in death with his parents and wife are a sister, Mary Lou Kelley, and brother, Richard C. McVay.

Funeral service will be held April 27th , 2015 at Bethany Presbyterian Church with visitation from 4:00 - 7:00PM, then immediately following all are welcome for the spiritual service, Pastor Kevin Bowers officiating. Burial with military honors on April 28th at 11:00AM, Rest Haven Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bethany Presbyterian Church and American Cancer and Heart Assoc. My sorrow to all of Adrian McVay's family. As anyone who knew Adrian knew a man that had a way about him that is hard to find...Gentleman,respectful, fun loving,helpful,resourceful and much more. I will miss seeing Adrian all around town. He was always driving in style,from head to toe.I am proud to say "Yes I Know ADRIAN MCVAY!!" We had "SOME FUN" chauffeuring together. Adrian was one of the friendliest men I have ever known. Didn't matter your age. 5 or 90 you had a friend in Adrian. I introduced him to his beloved "Sookie" and what a sweet but short love story they had! Heaven has gained an angel in Adrian :)
