Dennis Wien Obituary
Dennis R. Wien, 69, of Frankfort passed away at 8:20 p.m. on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at St. Elizabeth East.
He was born April 9, 1948 in Lafayette to the late Kenneth O. and Harriet (Taylor) Wien.
After graduating from Wainwright High School in 1966, Dennis went on to attend Purdue University.
His first marriage was to Suzanne Swinford and they later divorced. On October 29, 1988 Dennis married Marcia K. Corwin in Frankfort and she survives.
At the age of 16, Dennis joined the Musicians Union playing the drums for the Bob Harshman Band. Dennis had worked for National Homes, Lafayette National Bank, Morrie Hill Travel Trailer and upon his father's death he took over the family farm. Dennis was also the owner of Denny Wien's Gun Shop from 1974 until 1992.
He was a member of the NRA, Elks Lodge and the Harley Owners Group.
Surviving along with his wife Marcia are three sons, Kent Wien of Mulberry, Mark (Erin) Wien of Carmel and Matt (Erika) Wien of Walnut, CA; a sister, Judy Coffman of Lafayette as well as seven grandchildren, Logan, Camden, Kendall, Tatian, Malana, Carsen and Tanner (Jenna Davis) Wien and his dog Smokey.
Dennis was preceded in death by an infant son, Todd Wien, a granddaughter, Lindsey Wien and his mother and father-in-law, Pauline and John Cartmill.
Friends may call from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel with funeral services being held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 20 at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel at 400 Twyckenham Blvd. Lafayette, IN 47909 with Dr. Richard D. Ellsworth, Elder at First Christian Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens.
Those wishing may contribute in Dennis's name to either Clinton County Humane Society or the American Heart Association.

I just found this I had broke my older phone and needed to call Denny about an item for his input , Antique pistol. So I searched for his number, that lead me here. So sad, one of the best men and good souls I've ever in my life known. A friend and mentor since I was about 14 I'm 50plus now. Wish I'd seen him more often, an unfillable empty spot. You could not know Denny, without trusting and loving him as you would your own father or brother, IMHO.

To Kent, Mark, and Matt: Sorry to learn of your dad's death. I remember seeing him at the Revue and at the basketball games. Recently we would see him and Marcia at Southfork with Steve and Mary Beaver; we would always visit for a minute or two. Good memories!

My son and Dennys twins were in school at the same time. It was always great to see he and his wife and school funtions.
He can be remembered for a number of accomplishments. But I will always remember the great smile and his hearty laugh
