Donna Dexter Obituary
Donna J. (Barrett) Dexter, 71, of Kingman, IN, formerly of Chalmers, passed away at 8:51 a.m. on Monday, March 17, 2014 at Helen Keller Memorial Hospital in Sheffield, Alabama. Born August 27, 1942 in Lafayette, she was the daughter of the late Ida (Price) Barrett.
Donna married Richard E. "Dick" Dexter on September 16, 1961 in Lafayette and he preceded her in death on February 27, 2004. She and her late husband owned and operated Dexter Electric in Lafayette and she was an electrician for over 18 years. She was a Girl Scout leader for many years with her daughters and was involved with the activities of her children and grandchildren. Donna bowled in the Women's and Mixed bowling leagues in Lafayette for many years, winning several awards.
Surviving are her four daughters, Barbara Johnston (husband, Russell) of Attica, Beverly Morrissey (husband, Bill) of Danville, IN, Bonnie Dexter-Martinez (husband, Gustavo Martinez) of Florence, AL and Belinda Dunn (husband, Matt) of Fishers, IN; nine siblings, Evelyn, Bob, Judy, Joe, Rex, Cy, Curt, Tom and Dan; a sister-in-law, Linda Smith; 11 grandchildren, Ashley, Brittney, Desmond, Xoxli, Kyle, Nick, Travis, Desirae, Laura, Mitchell and Rachel; and 4 great-grandchildren, Alexia, Isaiah, Amerie, and Ivonte.
Visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Hippensteel Funeral Home. Funeral service Sunday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Walter Allward officiating.
