George Pruitt Obituary
George "Gale" Pruitt, 96, of Lafayette, passed away on Friday, November 10, 2017 at 10:00 a.m.
He was born April 14, 1921 in Westfield, IN, son of Ray and Mary Whisman (Pruitt). He married Vonda L. Gunning, and she preceded him in death on January 17, 2016.
Gale served in the Army during WWII. He was self-employed as a farmer in Hamilton County. Gale was a member of West Lafayette Christian Church and was active on the mission board and committee. He enjoyed all sports and being involved with the grandchildren's activities. He was an avid Cubs fan and was thrilled to see them win the World Series.
Gale is survived by a daughter-in-Law, Vicki Pruitt of Lafayette, and a foster daughter, Tami (husband: Steve) Jones of Vero Beach, FL. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Joel (wife: Rori) D. Pruitt of Lafayette, Matthew J. Pruitt of Pittsburg, PA, and Rachel (husband: Joel) L. Wesseling of Indianapolis. He also has three great-grandchildren, Kyan, Klayton, and Kaner, two foster grandchildren, Steven and Katie, and three foster great-grandchildren, Carson, Caleb, and Cora Beth.
Gale was preceded in death by father, Ray Pruitt, mother, Mary Whisman, wife, Vonda L. Pruitt, and 2 sons, Mark D. Pruitt, and Jon Bruce.
Services will be held on Friday, November 17, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. with visitation one hour prior at Simplicity Funeral Care with Pastor Steve Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to the West Lafayette Christian Church Missions Program. Gale, helped by Barbara Thompson, was the most faithful fan of our two bands showing up every Friday in Jenks Rest to listen to the Cherry Lane Dudes (CLD) and the The Timeless Trio (TTT). I and the other band members enjoyed playing for such a great man. Having Gale in the audience every week made it all the more worthwhile. Rest in peace.
