Gregory Vogel Obituary
Gregory D.Vogel, Sr., 68, of Monticello, passed away, Friday, April 8, 2016 at Naples Community Hospital in Naples, Florida.
He was born on September 5, 1947 in Lafayette to the late Lawrence "Cobb" and Alberta (Graves) Vogel. On October 15, 2000 he married the former Tammy Wyant in Cancun, Mexico. She survives in Monticello.
Greg was a graduate of Monticello High School. He was a Realtor Broker and Appraiser at Vogel Real Estate in Monticello. He was a member of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Monticello Rotary and Chamber of Commerce. Greg was on the local board of Realtors, as well as the White County Hospital Board for several years. He was on the White County Economic Development Board, and also the community Wisteria Board member in Bonita Springs, Florida. Greg was a member of the Tippecanoe Country Club, where he enjoyed playing golf and also enjoyed playing at Pine View Golf Course. He was a car enthusiast, enjoyed traveling, boating and water skiing. Greg enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Also surviving are his children, Jamie (Dave) Hargitt of Fayetteville, N.C., Gaynelle (Brion) Gilbride of Alexandria, VA, Greg (Sherry) Vogel, Jr. of Monticello, Samantha (Mike) Yocum of Monticello, and Drew (Mandy) Wyant of Columbus; three brothers, Bruce (Carolyn) Vogel, Phil (Susie) Vogel, and Chris (Vicki) Vogel all of Monticello; nine grandchildren, David, Greg, Ashleigh, Evan, Tim, Kenney, Xavier, Oliver, and Will.
Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm Sunday, April 17, 2016 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello. The Rosary will be prayed at 3:45pm.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am Monday at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church with Father David Rasner celebrating.
Burial will follow at Riverview I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church or to Monticello Rotary Club. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

We loved Greg and his whole big family. To know him was to love him. Always a gentle man, wonderful friend and the best neighbor you could hope to live beside. When I received my Indiana Real Estate Broker's License, I called Greg and he welcomed me with open arms and I was so excited to know the ethics and morals, honesty and integrity my Broker, Greg Vogel, Sr, displayed and lived by. Ralph, my husband of almost 30 years, never made it back to Monticello,, from our Florida home in Astor, FL, to again become residents of Monticello. We loved him and will surely miss this Gentle Giant and pillar of Monticello. At his passing, a huge part of Monticello will never be the same.
Our condolences to Tammy and Jan Vogel, and the children. We will keep you all in our prayers and thoughts.
