Janet Kerns Obituary
Janet Kay Johnson Kerns, age 73 a former Lafayette resident, died unexpectedly in Chandler AZ at Chandler Regional Hospital, November 5, 2015. She was born June 17, 1942 in Lafayette, daughter of the late Glenn and Emma Cunningham Johnson.
Janet was a graduate of Southwestern High School and was raised in the Lafayette area. She had received an Associate Degree in computer programing and had been a self-employed computer programmer. Before moving to Arizona twenty years ago, she had managed the Sambos Restaurant and employed at the Lafayette Country Club. She was a member and Sunday school teacher at the Cornona Baptist Church.
Surviving are two children: a daughter, Paula Kerns of Lafayette and a son, Paul (Janet) Kerns of Jackson, MI. Six grandchildren: Larry, Samantha, Cody, Bridget, Kimberly and Kaylyn. Two great-grandchildren: Brycen and Isabella also survive. Preceding her in death was an infant daughter Kathy, her parents and brother Jack.
Visitation will be 1:00-3:00 p.m. Sunday, November 15, 2015 at Family and Friends Funeral Home of Wingate. Funeral service follows the visitation, Sunday at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Mike Parks officiating. Burial will follow in Newtown Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to American Cancer Society.
