Jerry Peevler Obituary

Jerry L. "Spike" Peevler

New Richmond - Jerry L. "Spike" Peevler, passed away on New Years Eve with his family at his side.

He was born August 28, 1949 to the late Robert V. and Kathaleen (Coleman) Peevler and spent his childhood in Mellott. His formal education was in the Southeast Fountain School Corp. and University of Findlay.

His first marriage was to Cheryl Parker and later Kathy Bowles Neumayr to whom most people thought he was joined at the hip. They were always together.

Professionally, Jerry was an insurance man. He owned his agency for many years. During that time he was also a bail bondsman. In later years he sold his business and began working for the Tanner Insurance Agency where he really enjoyed working with "the boys". While he was at it he obtained his real estate license and went to work for his old friend, Jay Allen at Allen Auction and Real Estate as a side job.

Jerry served many years as a member of the North Montgomery School Board and was President of the board overseeing the massive campus renovation.

But his true passion was discovered when he was elected to serve on the Board of Directors of Tipmont REMC. Energy quickly became his avocation. He loved every minute of his service on the board and served as president for many years.

Jerry's interest and activities were numerous and ranged from scuba diving, boating, golf, horseback riding to spending over a year restoring a 1953 Chevy pickup. Actually he spent the time watching his buddy, David Dixon, do the restoration while he planned future projects. Jerry had so many wonderful friends. He made everything fun and we had fun just being a part of it. He was a generous man with his time, his money, his compliments, his loyalty and most of all his love. He loved his family and made sure we all knew it in so many ways. He was especially close to two of his granddaughters, Hunter and Sophie Royer, who call him "Pa". Together they enjoyed hours of fishing, listening to "Pa's" stories and his advice and the frequent trips to the Lindy Freeze.

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, his son, Todd and his granddaughter, Kendall Preuss.

Surviving is his wife, Kathy; son, Luke (Catherine) Neumayr; daughters, Cassandra (Steve) Royer and Susan (Scott) Kennedy; brothers, Bill (Nana) Peevler and Rusty (Karen) Peevler; grandchildren, Knox Neumayr; Hunter and Sophia Royer; Cecily Peevler, Rylan Preuss; Lexi, Aubrey and Chloe Kennedy. Also many nieces and nephews. Jerry was adored by his family and he will be missed for eternity.

We want to thank from the bottom of our hearts the wonderful nurses of Franciscan Health Hospital 3-North, who treated Jerry like a family member, with love, compassion and care. They will be in our hearts and prayers forever.

Jerry was very COVID-19 aware and his wishes were no services at this time and a celebration of life at a later date. Jerry specifically requested that donations may be made to a food pantry of your choice.

Condolences for Jerry's family and friends.
I met Jerry over fifty years ago when he came to Hawaii to visit Karen and Rusty. A memorable visit as was each time we saw him.
He was a very special person.
