Michael O'Brien Obituary
Funeral services for Michael E. O'Brien, 85, of Jeffersonville, IN, will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at Scott Funeral Home in Jeffersonville, IN, with burial to follow at New Chapel Cemetery in Jeffersonville. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 23, 2016 from 4 to 8 PM and after 9 AM on Saturday. He passed away on September 20, 2016.
He was born December 15, 1930 in Lafayette, IN, to Michael F. and Margaret Smith O'Brien.
He married the love of his life, Constance J. "Connie" Somers of Monon, IN at the United Methodist Church in Monon on November 27, 1960.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and two brothers, Jim and Gary O'Brien.
He is survived by his six children, Michelle Scheinost (Jay) of LaGrange, KY, Erin Moore (Kenny) of Seymour, IN, Michael S. O'Brien (Nancy) of Jeffersonville, IN, Jennifer Potter (Joey) of LaGrange, KY, Jeremy O'Brien (Sydney) of New Albany, IN, and Joshuah O'Brien (Jennifer) of New Albany, IN; four brothers, Bill, Larry, Denny and Bob; and sisters, Patricia Gregoire and Mary Margaret "Tudy" Blackwell.
His 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren gave him much joy and happiness.
His greatest passions were music and writing. He was a lifelong member of the Barbershop Harmony Society, having sung with and directed many choruses. At the age of 83 he fulfilled a lifelong dream by publishing his first novel, "Thompson's Creek", sold now on Amazon.com.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mike's memory to the Alzheimer's Association in honor of his wife, Connie. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
