Nancy Bakes Obituary
Lafayette - Nancy A. Bakes, 70, of Lafayette passed away on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at Franciscan Hospital East.
Born on July 28, 1950 in Benton, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late Tony and Mary (Nagy) Bakes.
Nancy was a Lafayette Jeff High School graduate. She also received her Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from Purdue University.
She was a school teacher for 37 years in the Lafayette School Corporation.
Nancy was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. She enjoyed gardening, reading, painting, and traveling.
Survivors include her sisters, Mary Katherine Bakes- Mezykowski (Robert) of Indianapolis and Jeanne Bakes Baker (Gregory) of Lafayette.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, April 13th, 2021 at 11 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Entombment will follow in the Tippecanoe Memory Gardens Chapel of Faith.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Tippecanoe Memory Gardens.

What a great time we had at the AOll house! Nancy and I were sorority sisters at Purdue. She had such a good sense of humor— so smart and witty. I truly enjoyed our friendship! I’m so sorry to hear of her passing.

Sorry to hear.
Nancy and I lived close when the family lived on 9th street.
We would get together and listen to the Beatles and practice putting on makeup. Fond memories.
