Robert Anthrop Obituary

Robert H. "Bob" Anthrop

Robert H. "Bob" Anthrop, 74, of Battle Ground, passed away on July 27, 2015 at IU Health Arnett of Lafayette.

Born August 10, 1940 in Lafayette, he was the son of the late George and Marietta (Buntin) Anthrop. He attended Klondike High School.

His marriage of 53 years was to Marilyn G. Harshman on September 9, 1961 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Lafayette, she survives.

Bob worked in the maintenance department at St. Elizabeth Medical Center for 15 years, retiring in 2005. He had also farmed in Tippecanoe County with his family for many years. Bob attended St. Lawrence Catholic Church and enjoyed working outside, gardening, and hunting mushrooms. He also enjoyed collecting and restoring antique tractors and attending the annual Steam and Power Show, the Tippecanoe Co. 4-H Fair, along with other antique power shows.

Surviving with his wife are his children, Robert E. Anthrop (wife: Laura) of West Lafayette, Charles W. Anthrop (wife: Lori) of rural Lafayette, Melinda S. Anthrop of West Point, Marlene E. Anthrop of West Lafayette, and Michelle G. Anthrop (companion: Joel Needham) of West Lafayette; 4 sisters, Lois Klinkhammer of West Lafayette, Barb Wagner of Lafayette, Pat Kingma (husband: Wayne) of Lafayette, and Jane Anthrop of Lafayette; 2 brothers, Ed Anthrop and Harold Anthrop (wife: Jane), both of West Point.

He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death with his parents are 6 brothers, Joe, Norman, Jack, Bill, Marvin, and infant George Anthrop, and a sister, Dorothy Ritchie.

Funeral Service will be held at 2 pm, Thursday, July 30, 2015 at Hippensteel Funeral Home with visitation two hours prior. Interment to follow in Pretty Prairie Cemetery near Battle Ground. I'm so sorry. Bob was a great man. I learned more about fixing stuff from him, than I did in 4 years at Purdue. The world is a lesser place today, and he will be missed a great deal by many, many people.
