Ruth Spooner Obituary
Flora - Ruth M. Spooner, 92, of Flora, passed away Thursday, July 11, 2018 at Milner Community Health Care in Rossville. She was born April 15, 1926 in Ludlow, IL to Fred B. and Sylvia P. (Shinker) Fuller. She was a 1944 graduate of Rantoul Township High School and a 1948 graduate of Julia F. Burnham School of Nursing in Champaign, IL. On August 7, 1949, she married the love of her life, John C. Spooner. He preceded her in death. She worked for five years at hospitals in Champaign before moving to Flora where she worked for over 28 years at Brethren Healthcare Center. She was a member of Flora First Christian Church, Julia F. Burnham Nurses Alumni Association, Carroll County RN Club and Chanute Nurses Association.
Ruth is survived by her sons, Charles (Janet) Spooner of Flora, James (Rebecca) Spooner of Boca Raton, FL; grandsons, Scott (Holly), Matt, Jacob, and Michael Spooner; and great grandchildren, Grace and Gentry Spooner.
Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a son, John Spooner; a brother, Harold Fuller; and a sister, Juanita Cope.
Memorial visitation will be held 10am until the time of the service at 12pm, Friday, August 3, 2018 at Genda Funeral Home Reinke Chapel in Flora. Pastor Kim Holley will officiate. Inurnment will follow at Maple Lawn Cemetery.
