Ian Bole Obituary

HUBERT – Ian Gregory Bole, 31, currently residing in Elkland, Pa., was born on Sept. 25, 1980, in Port Royal, S.C., the son of Greg and Kelly Bole and went to be with our Lord on Monday, April 16, 2012, as the result of a motorcycle accident.

He is survived by his parents, Greg and Kelly Bole of Hubert; sister, Sarah Bole and fiancé, 1st Lt. Brent Goddard of Hubert; sister, Rachel with husband, Sgt. William Michener and their daughter, Evelyn Grace of Parris Island, S.C.; paternal grandmother, Judith Bole of Grand Haven, Mich.; along with nine aunts and seven uncles.

Ian graduated from SUNY Alfred; was a veteran of the U.S. Marines at Camp Lejeune, including a deployment to Afghanistan and was currently employed at Vulcraft. He had a wonderful sense of humor and lived life to its fullest. He loved riding his Harley, weight lifting and listening to music, but above all, he loved his family, especially his niece, Evelyn Grace.

A funeral service will be held at noon Monday, April 23 at Camp Lejeune Protestant Chapel. Interment with military honors will follow at the Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.

I recently learned of Ian’s passing. We were friends in high school and I was trying to reach out to him. It saddens me that we missed our chance to reconnect. From what I’m reading he continued to be as cool as I remember him in school. He made an impact. I will never forget those times. Sorry for your loss Bole family. He will be remembered.

The first time I met Ian he had on a Harley Davidson shirt..I asked him if he had a Harley and he said yes..I asked him to take me for a ride and he did:) we went to Mansfield pa and In our adventure we stopped at a small gas station outside of galeton. In the meantime we were talking about relationships and what not and I had mentioned that I didn't like liars....he said to me "well I lied to you but its just a little lie. ...he told me the bike we were riding wasn't really his and he had borrowed it from a buddy just to take me for a ride...brings a smile to my face every time I think of that...I'm so very grateful I got to have such a wonderful friend in my life...Ian was a great person and he had such a huge heart...he will be missed ever so dearly...my thoughts and prayers go out to you Kelly, Greg, rachael and Sarah...

"What moves through us is a silence, a quiet sadness, a longing for one more day, one more word, one more touch, we may not understand why you left this earth so soon, or why you left before we were ready to say good-bye, but little by little, we begin to remember not just that you died, but that you lived. And that your life gave us memories too beautiful to forget"

I will always remember you Ian Bole, in my mind and in my heart.

I can't begin to express how sorry I am that Ian has left this word so early. He was the kind of guy that would give you the shirt off his back; he had a huge heart and was a real pleasure to be around. I am deeply saddened that we won't get to see the great man that he would have been. As a Marine, he embodied our motto, “No greater friend, No worse enemy” – he was proud of his time in the Corps, and his time in Afghanistan. Five of us from “the neighborhood” [Teddy, Will, Lew, Ian and myself] all deployed at roughly the same time and spent the following summer drinking beers, playing cards and sharing stories. I am honored to have known him and my heart goes out to the entire Bole family during this tragic time. Rest in Peace brother.
