John Hansley Obituary

MAYSVILLE - John Allen Hansley Sr., 77, died Aug. 1, 2010, at the home of his son in Maysville.

He was a retired farmer and the pastor of the Poor Folks Congregation.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Memorial Baptist Church in Maysville with the Rev. Woody Whitt and the Rev. William Ray Davis officiating. Burial will be in the Morton-Hansley Cemetery off Grants Creek Road in Jacksonville.

Surviving are his wife Emma Conway Hansley; his daughter, Alice Meadows and her husband, Garland of Kenly; his sons, John Hansley Jr. and his wife, Becky, Thomas Hansley, Ronnie Handley, Donald Hansley and Walter Hansley and his wife, Katie, all of Maysville; his sister, Ethel Williams of Ayden; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Sayland Funeral Home in Maysville and other times at the home of Walter and Katie Hansley.
