A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 21, 2009, at the Roosevelt Drive Church of Christ with the Rev. Jim Bender officiating.
He was an educator and taught at Swansboro Middle and Swansboro High Schools for 10 years. He proudly and honorably served his country with the U.S. Marine Corps and retired with more than 23 years of service and the rank of lieutenant colonel.
Survivors include wife, Alie Catrett Styons of the home; daughters, Betsy Styons and Jackie Styons, both of Jacksonville; son, J.R. Styons of Murfeesboro; one grandson; sisters, Janice Hall of Wake Forest and Cheri Hardison of Austin, Texas; brothers, Samuel Styons of Plymouth and Gary Styons of Naples, Maine.
The family will receive friends, at the front, of the church after the service.
