A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Infant of Prague Catholic Church with the Rev. Anthony DeCandia officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow at Onslow Memorial Park.
After serving 23 years in the U.S. Marine Corps he retired from MAG-29, New River Air Station as a master sergeant. He taught school at the Infant of Prague Parish School and Camp Lejeune Schools from 1982 until 2000. He also loved teaching origami.
Survivors include his wife, N. Del Murphy; sons, Tony Murphy of Ellicott City, Md., and Tom Murphy of Raleigh; sister, Ann Murphy of Savannah, Ga.; and four grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Jones Funeral Home.
