Adam L. Popson Jr.

1943 - 2024

Adam L. Popson, Jr., 81, of Machias, N.Y., passed away after a lengthy illness on Thursday, September 5, 2024 at the Bertrand Chaffee Hospital in Springville N.Y.

Born in Atlanta, Ga., on July 23, 1943, he was the son of the late Adam and Cora (Vaow) Popson Sr.

Adam was a graduate of Brookville High School.

After graduating, he joined the United States Navy and served from 1961 to 1966, serving a second tour from 1975 to 1977.

Adam owned and operated VIBO Press in Olean, N.Y.

He worked at K.N Aronson in Arcade as a drafting supervisor. Adam also worked at Airco in Arcade for several years, and he did design and layout for F.N. Burton in Buffalo.

Above all, Adam was a craftsman. He built the home he lived in.

Gardening was his hobby.

He was a member of the Jaycee's of Olean for many years.

Survivors include his son, Adam L. Popson III of DuBois; his grandson, Adam M. Popson of Brockway; three great-granddaughters, Makenzie, Addy and Vayda Popson of Brockway; two sisters, Barb (Gary) Gilhousen of Knox Dale and Sheila (Jim) Miller of Sebastian, Fla.; several nieces and nephews; and his caregiver and best friend, Vickie Popson of Machias.

He was predeceased by his parents, Adam and Cora; and two brothers, Ronald Popson and Ralph Popson.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
