Frances Jane Knapp, 87, of Mayport, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at the Highland View Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Brockway.
Jane was born on October 5, 1936, in Brookville. She was the daughter of the late Levi C. and Erma Hazel (Hice) Knapp Sr.
Jane graduated from Clarion-Limestone High School with the class of 1956.
She provided childcare for many years and loved babysitting children.
After that, she worked as a seamstress at the Brookville Glove Factory in Brookville, until she retired.
For more than seven decades, Jane remained an unwavering member of the Brookville Evangelical Methodist Church in Brookville. For over 50 years, she dedicated herself to teaching Sunday School, helping to organize and teach the yearly Bible School, and aiding in church luncheons. Jane devoted herself wholeheartedly to her church.
Jane enjoyed all her lifetime hobbies deeply. She enjoyed listening to country and gospel music, creating ceramics, planting flowers, and sewing clothes and costumes. Jane was an avid reader throughout her life, until her eyesight deteriorated.
Survivors include two nieces, Rosalyn Love of Orlando, Fla. and Carol (Ken) Johnson of Hazen; two nephews, Tim Knapp of Punxsutawney and Kevin Knapp of Florida; along with numerous great-nieces and nephews; and great-great-nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Jane was preceded in death by her five siblings, Levi Jr., Hazel, Maxine, Alvie and Willis Knapp; one nephew, Lloyd Knapp; and one niece. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 1, 2024, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Brookville Evangelical Methodist Church, located at 30 South White Street in Brookville.
A funeral service will be held following the viewing beginning at noon at the church, with the Rev. Loren McQueen officiating.
A luncheon will be served at the church following the service.
Interment will take place privately at the direction of the Carrier Funeral Home, at the St. John's Cemetery (Windy Hill), Rose Township, Jefferson County.
Memorial contributions may be made in Jane's name to Brookville Evangelical Methodist Church, 30 S. White Street, Brookville, PA 15825.
