Lila Bachelier Obituary

Lila M. Bachelier, 68, of Brookville, passed away on Friday, September 6, 2024, while at her home.

Born August 2, 1956, in Clearfield, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Margaret (Chelgren) Bachelier.

She graduated from Brookville Area High School with the Class of 1974 where she was involved in cheerleading, concert choir and the honors program. She also played the French Horn in high school.

She was on the tennis team in college and enjoyed studying abroad.

Lila graduated from Westminster College in 1978 with a degree in Business Finance. She quickly achieved executive positions in corporate banking for PNC Bank and Mellon Bank, both in Pittsburgh, and Key Bank in Erie.

She moved back to the Brookville area to help care for her ailing parents.

Her passion in life was her faith. She studied at the United Theological Seminary, working toward her Masters in Divinity. She also completed part of her Masters in Divinity at Asbury Theological Seminary.

Lila was a member of the Brookville First Methodist Church, where she was deeply invested in children ministry and outreach to the people of the church.

Lila was dedicated to sharing the word of God to numerous churches in the area. She was also very involved in the Western PA Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church.

She was also active in the community on multiple boards including WRC and the Brookville YMCA.

Lila had a kind heart and was always willing to help others. In 2021, Lila opened a clothing store on Main Street in Brookville that focused on affordable clothing for women, "Laurel Ladies."

In her youth, Lila was very active in kayaking, biking, and international travels. She also enjoyed music, singing, and playing the piano. You could also find Lila playing cards with many of her friends in the area. Lila loved her dogs, which were Manchester Terriers, which she always had growing up.

Survivors include her constant companions, her two dogs, Duke and Lili; one aunt, Helen Bonsall; and several cousins.

In addition to her parents, Lila was recently preceded in passing by her dog, Sase in July.

Family and friends will be received from noon to 2 p.m. on Friday, September 13, 2024, at the Brookville First Methodist Church, located at 205 Jefferson Street in Brookville.

A funeral service will be held immediately following the viewing, beginning at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Joe Short officiating.

Interment will take place at The Friends Cemetery, Grampian in Clearfield County.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Rebecca M. Arthurs Memorial Library, 223 Valley Street, Brookville, PA 15825, the Brookville YMCA, 223 Main Street, Brookville, PA 15825 or to the Brookville First Methodist Church.

I was privileged to have Lila as an Associate pastor in our Methodist church in Hazen. I always enjoyed hearing her sermon and children's message. She was a very dear woman and friend.

Lila grew up across the street in Grampian. She was my dear friend and fellow adventurer until she moved to Brookville. We rescued two chickens, Big Red and Snow White. Big Red had one big foot and one smaller one. Snow White had one foot on top of the other. She hopped like a rabbit. We loved those chickens and our rescue work, got an occasional egg and lots of love.
Lila was loving and caring as a child and a wonderful friend. I´m certain many people and pets were blessed by her life.
