I am very sorry that I just found Dick's obituary. Dick and I were stationed in the Mediterranean together while assigned to CommanderServiceForcesSixthFleet, 1964-66. We were both RM3 (third class petty officers) Radiomen. Dick was awarded a Speed Key Certificate and given a speed key used in sending Morse Code messages at a high speed (60 words a minute).
We shared many happy moments together. I remember him telling me how disappointed he was when he found out while working at General Mills that there was no Betty Crocker.
I was hoping I would get a chance to see him, but that will be later.
My sincerest condolences to the family. He was a good man.
Sincerely, Les Stratemann (Tex) RM3
