Stanley Simpson Obituary

Stanley Burnell Simpson, 75, of Auburn, Ga., peacefully passed away on May 18, 2025 at a hospice facility in Cumming, Ga.

Stanley was born in Gassaway, W.Va. to Virginia (Friend) Simpson Slack and Garner Lee Simpson.

He was preceded in death by an infant sister, Brenda Simpson, sister, Shirley (Friend) Erwin and brother, Boyd Friend.

He is survived by daughter, Renae (Simpson) Elenbaas; sons, Greg and Teresa Simpson and Kevin Simpson and Adrian Morales; and daughter, Misty (Simpson) Messer; grandchildren, Cory Simpson, Brittney (Sawyer) Horton, Courtney (Nick) Hollifield, Tiffany Elenbaas, Chesley Booker, Matthew Booker and Nathan Booker; great-grandchildren, Jaryon Simmons (Simpson), Charlotte Horton and Hudson Hollifield; sisters, Linda "Marcene" (Dale) Conner and Deb (Bob) Rowan; and multiple loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

Stan graduated from Brookville Area High School in 1967, followed by earning his degree in computer programming from an early I.T. school in Pittsburgh.

His career spanned the next 50-plus years in computer programming for a number of companies. He would often recount that he would give whatever answers he thought prospective employers wanted to hear during job interviews then "learn what I had to on the job."

In his personal life, Stan was very proud to be a Freemason, and later a Shriner, throughout his adult life. He held all the chairs at his home Mason lodge in Stone Mountain, Ga.

He was an avid golfer, highlighted by a "hole in one" he once notched on a course in Savannah, Ga.

His guilty pleasures were to watch old westerns and "B" science fiction movies from the 60s and 70s.

Most of all he loved his family. He will be dearly missed.

Per his request, there will not be any formal funeral or other service performed.

A small Celebration of Life with the immediate family will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, Stan requested instead to make any donations in his name to a Shriner's Hospital.

HAPPY Birthday to the Man I was Blessed to call my Daddy!
I wish I would've hugged you tighter, longer and more often.
I wish I could hear you laughing (until you had to remove your glasses and wipe away the tears) again. You are loved, missed, cried over and REMEMBERED with Love!
