Diana Crawford Jeffery

Diana Crawford Jeffery passed away peacefully at home on January 4, 2024 surrounded by family.
Diana was born on November 17,1954 in Jersey City where she was raised and educated. She graduated from Snyder High in 1972 and earned her Bachelors and Masters degrees from New Jersey City University. She worked as a devoted educator for Jersey City Public Schools for over 32 years.
In 1978 she married Gene Jeffery Sr. (d.2003) In 1980 the family of 3 became a family of 4 when Gene Jr was born.
After her retirement in 2010, she continued to support students through tutoring and continued her civic engagement with the NAACP and other local organizations. She maintained meaningful connections with her church community and her wanderlust spirit led her to travel the world over the years.
Diana was predeceased by her parents Frances and James Richardson, father John Crawford, and brothers Glenn Crawford and John Crawford Jr.
Of all her accomplishments, her favorite titles were Mom and Nana. She is survived by her two children Shontaye Jones (Victor) & Gene Jeffery (Shanté), granddaughters Randi Parker and Harper Jones, Aunt Roberta Fluellen and Uncle Roy Fluellen, and a host of cousins and friends. A viewing will be held at Claremont Lafayette United Presbyterian Church, 124 Claremont Ave JC, NJ, on January 12, 2024 at 11am, with funeral service to follow.
