TRILLA - Barbara E. Green, 88, of Trilla, IL, passed away at 6:38 PM Saturday, June 22, 2024, in the Carle Foundation Hospital of Urbana, IL.
She was born January 20, 1936, in Neoga, IL, the daughter of Nathan and Olive (Ferris) Stewart. Barbara married Lawrence E. "Bud" Green September 2, 1956, at the First Christian Church of Neoga, IL. They were married for 59 years when Mr. Green passed away on June 4, 2016.
She graduated from Eastern Illinois University with a Masters Degree and taught PE/Health for the Mattoon Community School District for over 35 years. She was a faithful member of the Good Prospect Cumberland Presbyterian Church In Trilla, IL, where she taught Sunday School. Barbara was also a fifty plus year member of the Order Of The Eastern Star.
She is survived by her son, Jim Green (Angie) of Trilla, IL; daughters: Deb Berkheimer (Barry Conn) of Trilla, IL, and Kristi Peterson (Eric) of Louisville, KY; grandchildren: Josh Green (Heather) of Sullivan, IL, Jessica Sergeev of Carbondale, IL, Ryan Berkheimer (Cortney) of Mattoon, IL, Jamie Thompson (Justin Young) of Trilla, IL, Brent Berkheimer (Ashley) of Mattoon, IL, Caleb Peterson (Susan) of Greeley, CO, Daniel Peterson of Louisville, KY, Rachel Peterson of Louisville, KY, and Staci Berkheimer of Trilla, IL; great-grandchildren: Logan, Carter, Hailey, Lily, Shelby, Talyn, Chayse, Mackenzie, Parker and Ivan; sisters-in-law, Ann Stewart of Plainfield, IN, and Janet Tinch of Trilla, IL; and many other loved ones.
Mrs. Green was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lawrence "Bud" Green; sister, Shirley (John) Flood; brother, Don Stewart; daughter-in-law, Jackie Streeper-Green; son-in-law, Tim Berkheimer; grandson-in-law, Ivan Sergeev. Barb was loved by many and will be deeply missed.
Memorials are suggested to the Beals Cemetery of Trilla, IL, or Good Prospect Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Trilla, IL.
Visitation will be Wednesday, June 26, 2024, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM in the Swengel - O'Dell Funeral Home in Neoga, IL, and from 10:00 AM until service time at the Good Prospect Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Trilla, IL.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday June 27, 2024, in the Good Prospect Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Trilla, IL. Burial will be in the Beals Cemetery in Trilla, IL.
